Determination of crystal shapes in bone
Three potential shapes of crystals are seen in bone thin sections using SAXS:
Needle-like crystals (green) such as those seen in the control sample in this study
Plate-like crystals (black), seen in bones showing relatively little alteration
Polydisperse crystals (red), seen in samples with high levels of histological alteration
